What You Want to Know:
Strap in, because this bicycle-themed coffee shop will offer an interesting ride. Its chameleon decor of exposed brick, bird portraits, and a bright orange wall will confuse you at first, but the real coherence is in their fresh coffee and happy customers. When visiting Filter Coffeehouse and Espresso Bar, get ready to disconnect from the world, make new friends, and enjoy your cup of Joe.
There is no wifi available at this coffeeshop. They strongly believe that coffee should be paired with conversation, not Facebook.

If you love a bold, strong coffee, do not get the Peruvian beans. I made the mistake of ordering a French press coffee with the Peruvian blend and it tasted like lightly flavored water. However, Filter Coffeehouse and Espresso Bar has a wide variety of drinks that look more appealing. Their lattés even come with some latté art in the shape of a heart.

Filter Coffeehouse and Espresso Bar is easily accessible, being that it is a five minute walk from the Dupont Circle Metro Station. They get their beans from a local roaster called Ceremony Coffee Roasters in Annapolis Maryland and grind their beans with each order, so their coffee is fresh and high quality. Their wide selection of drinks offers something for everyone, which is fitting because people of all ages walk through the door to enjoy coffee, tea, or hot chocolate.
I want to go back to Filter Coffeehouse and Espresso Bar not only to see if I have better luck with my drink, but because I enjoyed the quirky atmosphere and vibe in the coffee shop. When wanting a quiet oasis from the bustling DC area, take a trip to Filter Coffeehouse and Espresso Bar, turn off your cell phones, and enjoy a nice cup of coffee (if you stray from the Peruvian beans). Even if I do not like the coffee the second time I visit, I think Filter will permanently be a place on my list I could go to get away from chaos, read a nice book, and maybe just sip hot chocolate.
