Quality of Beverages and Food: 🍴🍴🍴🍴
The coffee that I drank at Qualia Coffee was very good. It was not bitter nor was it watery. The coffee was a dark-roast coffee, so it had a rich flavor. The coffee I had was Sumatra coffee and it had notes of bell pepper, cranberry, lime, and grapefruit. The only downside to the coffee was that the temperature of it was not that hot, it was only warm. Qualia offers pour over style coffee and drip coffee. Their menu offers a variety of coffee options, but there is not a wide selection of non-coffee beverages. Qualia offers a small selection of pastries.

Overall, I had a great experience at Qualia Coffee. It is located in Petworth, a residential neighborhood in Washington, DC that is a little bit north of Columbia Heights. I really enjoyed the large variety of types of coffee that they sold, which are all single origin and fair-trade. They sell coffee coming from places like Sumatra, Honduras, Bali, and Papa New Guinea. When I walked into Qualia Coffee, I immediately smelled freshly roasted coffee because this coffee shops roasts all of their coffee beans daily, but in small batches. In addition, Qualia Coffee had a home-like feel. The environment was very soothing and had a relaxed vibe. This coffee shop was not crowded with the hustle and bustle of Washington, DC. The baristas in Qualia were exceptionally friendly and very approachable. It was also noticeable that the baristas had kept up with the cleanliness of the shop; the counters were clean, the floor was swept, the glass mugs were free of any coffee stains, etc. Qualia encourages environmentally-friendliness, considering that they usually serve their coffee to guests in a glass mug, rather than a paper cup. Qualia Coffee also offers bags of coffee beans that they have roasted right in the shop. The prices on the menu were not expensive. The different drink items on the menu range from about $2 to $5. The cup of coffee I ordered was $2 and many of the bags of coffee beans they sell range from about $12 to $15. I would highly recommend visiting Qualia Coffee.
