What You Want to Know:
Many people who experience Philz for the first time comment on the long lines and complicated ordering style. However, if you go to the shop at the right time and read the signs posted on the walls, the ordering process is actually intimate and enjoyable. Baristas line up behind the counter awaiting your specific instructions. Their goal is to improve your day with a perfectly personalized cup of coffee and their personalities are conducive to such incredible customer service.
Philz has great, accessible Wifi. Though outlets are seemingly non-existent, if your laptop is charged and your phone is above 20%, you are bound to find the perfect spot to sit.
Quality of Beverages and Food: 🍴🍴🍴🍴🍴
Philz has an extensive menu, yet lacks the basic of drinks such as the latte and cappuccino. Instead, Philz offers unique pour-over blends, iced coffees, and exotic teas. The menu takes time to peruse, but it is easy to pick a blend that fits your mood. The baristas give you a ten second interview about your preferences and taste buds, and a couple of minutes later your personalized brew is placed on the bar for pick up. If you would like, you can tell them you just want it “Philz way,” meaning the perfect amount of cream and sugar mixed behind the bar for you. Though the blends are a couple of dollars, the unique experience of a personalized blend, as well as the fair trade and certified organic beans, makes the cup worth the price.
Overall Rating: ☕️☕️☕️☕️
Philz coffee shop is a great place for studying, socializing, and coffee-tasting. Beginning as a convenient store in 1992, the shop hides its blends while simultaneously befriending it’s customers, obviously providing a good quality cup of coffee. It’s baristas are friendly and devoted to creating your perfect “cup of love” yet, the atmosphere allows for new customers and veteran drinkers alike.
Philz also has a great atmosphere for the student. It is suitable for both studying and socializing, and placed in the lively neighborhood of Adams Morgan. Customers spill out of the shop onto the surrounding outside tables if the weather is nice. The interior is minimalistic yet comfortable and artsy. Visit if you haven’t been and return if you’ve already gone, Philz will make your say just a little bit sweeter.
